After several years of talking about extending its physical infrastructure to Europe, Salesforce.com, provider of the popular cloud-based customer relations management (CRM) software has confirmed it is planning to open one next year in London.

The company’s CEO Marc Benioff said during the company’s annual Dreamforce conference in San Francisco last Friday that the company had chosen a location and a data center provider for its European site, Business Cloud 9 reported.

“We haven’t signed the agreement yet,” he said. “We have specked it out, and we will have that operational next year.”

The company uses Equinix as its data center provider in California, Virginia and Singapore. It has space at a Digital Realty Trust data center in San Francisco and has also taken wholesale space with DuPont Fabros in Virginia and Chicago.

Its most recent international infrastructure expansion was to Japan. The company announced in December 2011 that it had brought some IT infrastructure online at an NTT data center in Tokyo.

At last week’s Dreamforce conference, Salesfofce.com launched a slew of new offerings, including Salesforce Identity, a Facebook-like user identity that can be used across all enterprise applications, and Salesforce Touch Platform, which allows a developer to deploy a mobile application written once to any device.

The company also launched Heroku Enterprise for Java, a service for companies to run Java applications in the Cloud, and Work.com, a human-resources-oriented social performance-management platform.

Finally, Salesforce.com used its San Francisco conference to announce its answer to Box called Chatterbox. This is an online file management and sharing platform for enterprises that will compete with companies like Box, one of the leading companies in the space.
