China Data Center Roundup: Fujitsu, Oracle and HP

Data center certifications, new R&D Center and building software for the Cloud

Oracle is building a new R&D Center in Shanghai - its fourth in China.

Oracle president Mark Hurd said the center will be used for research into cloud computing, data mining, big data and the development of commercial products.

Hurd said the center will help Oracle increase its number of Chinese partners.

Oracle entered the Chinese market when it opened its first China Office in Beijing in the 1980s. today it has 18 branches, four R&D centers, three partnership solution centers and one customer center in the country.

HP develops software for cloud
HP China and the Jining Municipal government and Luoyang Municipal government will build a two industrial base for software development for cloud and big data.

HP said it will invest 20CNY in Jining and 20CNY in Luoyang respectively for building its International Software Talent and Industrial Base (ISTIB) in the regions.

In Luoyang it will build a software talent training center, software testing center, IT resource service center and software building and in Jining in East China it will build a software testing platform and big data and cloud computing centers.

HP said it plans to build eight such bases in China. Other facilities are already planned for Neijiang City in Sichuan.

Fujitsu gets ISO accreditation
Fujitsu’s South China Data Centre has received the international standards ISO9001 and ISO27001 accreditations for quality management systems and information security management system (ISMS).

The data center opened on 11 April this year and is the first Tier III+ data center in South China and Fujitsu's first data center in the country.

It has more than 12,000 sq m of floor area which can host 1,000 racks in full operation. At present, more than 250 racks are in use for clients from the government, banking, finance and insurance industries.
